Qi (Keith) Zhang received his MSEE degree from California State University, Los Angeles in 1999. He is currently a PhD student at Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. In addition to being a student, he is also project engineer at Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems in El Segundo, California for the Interactive Gestural Environment and Tools (IGET) project. IGET has been featured in the national media on both CNN and the Wall Street Journal. Qi lead the algorithm research effort for Raytheon’s segment of the project and assisted in the prototype implementation. Qi is currently involved in the patent process for this technology. He won Individual Achievement Award in Raytheon in 2004. He was selected as Raytheon’s nominee for the National Talented Young Engineer Awards sponsored by US News in 2006. Before joining Raytheon, Qi worked as a project engineer at TRW Battlefield and Tactical Information Systems in Carson, California on various US military projects. Qi’s current primary research interests are in the areas of complexity constraint advanced multimedia compression algorithms, coding theory, and high performance computing. | |
